Message from the President

How many of you read this newsletter completely? I am thinking that I write too much gibberish and that makes people not want to read further. So I am keeping this short and sweet so that you'll want to read it all! Hint, hint...you do want to read it all!

Eveline Garneau, SWCA President

February Program: Bill Rogers Watercolour Demo and Paint-Along

Monday, February 8 6:30pm start - NOTE TIME CHANGE!!!!

We are hosting William (Bill) Rogers (https://www.williamrogersart.com) from the Maritimes. Due to the time difference, we will start his portion as early as possible 7:00 pm (10:30 pm his time!) Bill will be doing a watercolour demo/paint-along. So, have your paint supplies ready to go before the start of the meeting as we will not have time to wait for people to set up during the meeting.

The Zoom invitation will be sent  separately along with the reference photo he'll be using. This way you can print it out to use as your reference as well. Don't have a printer? Pick up a copy at Eveline's shop. Please call before coming over 780-489-1028.

February is also BRING-A-BUDDY month! When you receive your Zoom invitation, you may forward it to one friend with the encouragement that they think about joining our wonderful society. They can find out more about our group at swcartists.ca.

Member News

Carol Stratman:

I just wanted to mention a couple of good things that happened a couple of months ago for me. I happened to be juried into Artists for Conservation as an associate member, and am very happy about this. It is very exciting for me to be part of such a prolific group as a wildlife artist and as it was on my first attempt it was also quite surprising and humbling. I was also juried into the Pastel Artists of Canada Online Exhibition 2020, also on my first attempt. Although I did not win anything it was exhilarating to just be included in the juried works of so many talented artists across Canada!

Mohamed Hirji:

I am offering a class on Ella in March 2021. Designing and Composing paintings on Apple computers. There are still 17 spots available for Apple computer users. No computer knowledge except the ability to use a mouse and do basic computing tasks.
