March 2021

Feature Artist

Unfortunately, we do not have a featured artist this month due to the time restraints of this month's meeting. Would you like to be a featured artist? Please send in your name to swcameeting@gmail.com. All members are eligible to be a featured artist.

Message from the President

Bill Roger's demo and paint-along at our February meeting was so interesting and fun! To have the opportunity to experience this over Zoom was one of the highlights of our year and it's only going to get better. Paintings from members who participated in the paint-along are shown below.

Our March program will prove to be just as interesting and I hope you will be able to join us that evening. March is also our AGM. See below for more information.

Exciting book news! Our beautiful Edmonton book has been featured in the Edmonton Journal. See below for more information.

Winner of the "Did You Read The Whole Newsletter" contest was Carol Pylypow and she asked that we give it to someone special. So we have decided to send it to our Mayor, Don Iveson. This being his last term, we thought it would be a lovely thank you to him. Thank you Carol!

I know that many of our members will be getting the vaccine over the next month. I hope it goes well for all of you and now there really is a light at the end of this covid tunnel.

Take care and stay safe.

Eveline Garneau, SWCA President

AGM

Annual General Meeting – March 8, 2021  BEGINS AT 6:30 PM

Zoom invites will be sent to members prior to the meeting. The meeting begins at 6:30 pm, and the room will open at 6:00 pm for general chatting and making sure you are set up properly in Zoom.

Kindly, Rick Rogers has agreed to lead this meeting as we vote in next year's executive. At present, we have a nominee for each position but Rick will be asking for more nominations from the floor should any member wish to participate in this vital part of our society. Any member wishing to "shadow" a position to learn the in's and out's and to feel more comfortable in that position, this would be a chance to let the executive know.

Volunteers

We need to fill a few Committee Chairperson spots. They are:

  • Exhibitions Chairperson (required ASAP)
  • Kitchen Coordinator Chairperson
  • Workshop Coordinator Chairperson
  • Program Coordinator (required ASAP)

All these positions can be a shared duty. More hands make for lighter work so please call a friend and consider taking on one of these positions for the next year. None of these positions need to be entered cold turkey either. We would make sure you would have all the assistance that you need to make it a smooth transition. Any questions? Please contact Eveline through swcameeting@gmail.com.
