Artist Biography
Leanne Snellen is an emerging painter /sculpter, and Registered Nurse, living on a farm in Leduc County. Leanne creates her art expressively and intuitively about the beauty, the tension, and the constant change in her relationships to the land and the people she interacts with in an effort to say something that is complex yet fundamental about the subject she chooses to focus her work on.
Artist Statement
My art work is evolving into a practice based on observation and on interpretation. While I am not always aware, initially, of why I am drawn to a subject, the intuitive act of beginning an exploration of a subject through a non-verbal medium excites me. The first stages of my work are fast and chaotic until the image or form begins to express the message which drew me to it.
